Catching Up!

YDU has had a very busy spring! It's convention season, so we're on the road and traveling to different counties as we build toward the state convention on June 20!

Most recently, we traveled to the Summit County convention, where Mark had the opportunity to address the crowd and talk about what we're doing this year and what our vision of the future is.

The Young Dems have also had a presence at fundraisers and benefit dinners for groups doing important work in our community. Most recently, we attended the ACLU annual benefit and watched proudly as our own Kristin Dobbin, president of the West High School Young Democrats, won a Youth Activist scholarship from the Utah ACLU chapter. Rachel Maddow's speech was obviously kind of a letdown after all of Kristin's glory, but somehow we bore up and managed to pay attention.

And if you ran or walked this year's Susan G. Komen Race For the Cure, then you probably saw the YDU contingent, either at the pre-registration table, the finish line crew (we were the ones with the bananas!) or at strike down.

The finish line crew! Not pictured is Curtis Haring, who did breakdown duties.

And we're not done! We have a plethora (that's right, plethora) of activities coming up for June!
Get out your calendars:

May 30: Strut Your Mutt with YDU!
June 7: YDU has a float in the annual Pride Parade! Come march with us!
June 13: YDU's Day of Service at the Wasatch Community Gardens from 10-2! Sponsored by YDU's Young Professionals Caucus
June 19: JJ Dinner!
June 20: State Convention at Murray High School
June 27: YDU's Annual BBQ

Visit our facebook page (see the link on the right if you're not already a fan) for more information about each of these events as it becomes available, and we hope to see you at a few (or all!)

Also, because we know our YDU members are an intrepid bunch, and the summer travel season is upon us, check out the changes to the US border crossing requirements here. They take effect June 1, 2009!

OK, Team YDU. Ready...and...break!
